About Marty

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after my parents immigrated to the U.S. from Hungary in 1956. I received my undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering from Penn State in 1990, and my MBA from Boston University. While on the ski team at Penn State I met my wife and, because she was an avid fan of Joe Paterno and football (a rarity), I married her in 1992. We lived in San Francisco (and loved it) from 1991 - 1997. During that time, I played drums in a swing Jazz band and practiced Architecture. We basically had a ball.In 1997, we moved to New England so I could work for Autodesk in marketing and software product development. Autodesk was (and still is) the 900-pound gorilla/leader of the computer aided design (CAD) market.
After two years of working at Autodesk, I was invited to join a startup company by two very talented people who had started Parametric Technology Corp back in the 80’s. That company was eventually named Revit Technology Corp. With a great team and a huge amount of learning, Revit changed the face of the CAD business for the building construction industry. The Revit product was a visionary one and broke many rules in the CAD world. I’m proud to say I was a big part of it.
I ran the Product Management and Product Design functions for Revit. We designed Revit using a highly iterative process with lots of customer feedback, yielding a product that captured zealous devotion from its users. During my time at Revit, Susan and I also were blessed with our two great kids.
Autodesk purchased Revit Technology in 2002. After spending three more years at Autodesk, I decided to pursue the MBA I had originally planned in 1997. The MBA experience at Boston University was fantastic, and a refreshing hiatus. I am now focusing on startup businesses, and own a consulting company called Harvard Avenue Ventures.
